Rugged Serial DB9 Breakout

9.99 16.95

The Rugged Serial DB9 Breakout is an RS232 level translator and DB9 connector breakout to discrete wire terminals. Parasitic power is drawn from the DB9 interface so no external power supply is required.

Fully assembled and ready to use right out of the box. The dimensions are 1.21" x 1.28".

The DB9 connector is a standard female connector accepting RS232-level signals (nominal +/-10V, +/-25V absolute maximum). The TxD/RxD and RTS/CTS signals are level-translated to a 3.3V logic level and made available at the 5-pin screw terminal connector. The 3.3V logic levels work with both 3.3V and 5V systems.

For unusual systems that do not provide enough parasitic power at the DB9 connector, you can provide an external +5V supply at the two terminals labelled + and - at the top of the PCB. Only a very small amount of current is necessary, typically less than 1mA.

For reference, here is the board's schematic. The Rugged Serial Breakout Board was designed and assembled in the USA using lead-free materials and processes.
